A SAFE HAVEN
This 1 hour documentary will address the genesis, history and current status of the A Safe Haven organization, and its inspirational and revolutionary vision for the future of addiction healthcare. Rather than the negative and damning treatment of recovering addicts so prevalent in the media and society, the stories within A Safe Haven are tales of redemption, generosity, achievement, friendship, love and success.
Heralded as America's largest and finest chemical rehabilitation program, A Safe Haven was founded by Brian and Neli Rowland. Now celebrated as award-winning entrepreneurs and lauded by their burgeoning ‘family’ of grateful clients and employees, they themselves lived through the nightmare of addiction.
A Safe Haven will show how their own struggle to overcome adversity continues to inform their desire to help those who are still suffering, and how one couple’s determination to effect positive change has grown into an entire network of similarly dedicated and motivated individuals who are resurrecting their lives. The clients themselves will also tell their own stories as they move through this process, creating a poignant and emotional collage that will radically alter perceptions of what it is to be a recovering addict.
Just like the program itself, the A Safe Haven documentary will help change lives by:
• Examining the issues of addiction while incorporating the latest research and theory.
• Revealing the moving stories behind this remarkable social enterprise.
• Promoting healthy options for those battling with chemical addiction.
• Providing an example to other organizations around the country on which to model future programs.
• Reaching and teaching viewers who perhaps do not have first-hand experience of addiction.
• Challenging the dominant (and generally overwhelmingly negative) media depiction of both recovering addicts and treatment programs.
• Serving as a catalyst for wider debate and lasting political and social change. |
